• 영문초록 : The purpose of this study is to understand the meaning and nature of drinking experience of low-income single mothers. For this, a descriptive phenomenological method by Giorgi was selected. As a result of analyzing the structure of drinking experience of seven participants, five essential themes such as ‘counterattack from alcoholic dependence’, ‘transformation of drinking from means to purpose’, ‘taking children as a momentum to reflect on drinking’, ‘living with an image of mother while tied down to drinking’, and ‘pursuing a balance between drinking and daily life’ were found. The general theme which synthesizes the meaning and nature of drinking experience of low-income single mothers is ‘hiding a drinker and seeking a mother’s façade.’ Based on the research findings, social welfare practical implications for low-income single mother drinkers were discussed.

본 연구는 저소득 한부모가족 여성가구주의 음주 경험의 의미와 본질을 탐구하는 것을 목적으로 하고 Giorgi의 기술적 현상학 연구로 접근했다. 본 연구에서는 7명의 연구참여자들의 음주 경험의 구조를 분석한 결과, ‘의지했던 술의 역습’, ‘도구에서 목적으로 변질되어가는 음주’, ‘자녀를 거울삼아 음주를 반성하기’, ‘음주에 매여 있으면서 어머니로 살아가기’, ‘음주와 생활의 균형점 찾기’와 같은 5개의 본질적 주제들이 발견되었다. 저소득 한부모가족 여성가구주가 경험한 음주의 의미와 본질을 종합하는 핵심 주제는 ‘음주자의 얼굴을 가리고 어머니의 형상을 좇아 살아가기’로 상정되었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 토대로 저소득 한부모가족 여성 음주자에 대한 사회복지 실천적 함의를 논의했다.
